SM Galvan G12/G13 CDP Upgrades
Project Overview
L7 Oilfield & Pipeline Construction was awarded the contract to execute a comprehensive upgrade of the SM Galvan G12/G13 Central Delivery Point (CDP) facilities. The project aimed to enhance production capacity, modernize infrastructure, and expand storage capabilities. Key deliverables included building a foundation for a new heater, upgrading piping systems to support higher flow rates, and expanding the site’s containment area for additional tanks.
Scope of Work
1. Heater Installation
- Constructed a reinforced concrete foundation for the new heater to ensure stability and longevity.
- Fabricated and installed all necessary piping to integrate the heater into the existing system, making it operational and compliant with safety and performance standards.
2. Fuel Skid Upgrades
- Upgraded inlet and outlet piping on the fuel skid from smaller-diameter lines to improve flow capacity and meet increased production demands.
- Installed a fuel gas coalescer alongside the fuel skid to enhance the separation of impurities, ensuring cleaner fuel delivery to the system.
3. Booster Pumps Installation
- Installed new booster pumps to improve pressure and flow rates, enhancing the overall efficiency of the production system.
- Integrated booster pumps into the site’s upgraded piping network for seamless operations.
4. Tank Battery Piping Upgrades
- Replaced all existing tank battery piping, increasing the diameter from 4” to 8” to handle higher production volumes.
- Ensured the upgraded piping adhered to ASME and API standards, allowing for safe and efficient handling of increased throughput.
5. Containment Area Expansion
- Expanded the containment area to create space for the installation of two additional storage tanks.
- Constructed new containment barriers to ensure safety and compliance with environmental regulations.
Challenges Overcome
- Tight Timeline: Despite the complexity of the upgrades, L7 effectively managed resources to stay on schedule.
- Infrastructure Integration: Upgrading existing systems required precise coordination to avoid operational disruptions during construction.
- Safety Standards: Maintained a spotless safety record (TRIR 0.00) by adhering to strict protocols and providing on-site training for all personnel.
Outcome
We successfully delivered a fully upgraded and operational G12/G13 CDP facility, meeting all client requirements for increased production and capacity. The project improved system efficiency, expanded storage capabilities, and ensured compliance with industry and environmental standards.
